Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Since 2010, I have volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, providing free tax preparation and support services for low-income individuals and families, people with disabilities, English language learners, students, and older adults. I also manage a tax preparation site and train volunteers.

I serve on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Community Baby Closet, which provides essential baby items for expectant mothers and families with children under two years of age who are experiencing financial need. I support strategic planning and event coordination.

Women Investing in Nebraska

Women Investing in Nebraska collectively awards annual grants to University of Nebraska and nonprofit initiatives addressing critical issues in the state. I serve on the Grants Committee, helping select nonprofit organizations to receive funding.

Helping Children and Young Adults

I serve on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Advisory Board, helping address key challenges and support the agency’s mission. At the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, I support student development as an advisor for Alpha Xi Delta and the W.H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community, helping students build essential life skills.

Helping Nebraskans Through Financial Literacy

I served on the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Financial Education Association, an organization dedicated to empowering Nebraskans to take control of their financial futures by building financial knowledge and skills. I also developed Money Smart Week, a month-long awareness campaign featuring educational events and community activities.

Supporting Vulnerable Groups in Lincoln

Through my work developing community outreach programs for the University of Nebraska and State of Nebraska, I developed relationships with many nonprofits including Clinic with a Heart, People’s City Mission, Friendship Home, United Way, Asian Community & Cultural Center, Nebraska Main Street Network, and ServeNebraska, and I continue to support their efforts through volunteering at events and helping with other initiatives.
